Chunkster Reading Challenge '08!

Whoo-hoo! I missed this one last year. It runs until December 20th and you only have to read 4 books (can do more) that are at least 450 pages long (reg. type)
I've promised myself that I will read the books I already own instead of buying more this year so, I happen to have 4 big ol' guys sitting on my shelf...AND they're classics, which I told myself I needed to read more of...So here goes:
1. Villette by Charlotte Bronte -555 pages
2. The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck -453 pages
3. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy -817 pages
4. Vanity Fairy (a re-read, love this book!) by William Makepeace Thackeray -809 pages
There you have it. I may substitute with other books if I find any of the other 3 a bore.

What a great list Becky! Villette is a wonderful and challenging novel, I discovered it only after a university tutor recommended it to me. And Vanity Fair is the first on my own chunky list! I can't believe I've gotten this far in life without reading it (and so far I love it!). I loved Anna Karenina so much, and was so grief stricken when I finished it, that I've added War & Peace to my list. This challenge was just the kick I needed to read it, as it's more obese than chunky...And Grapes of Wrath is the last in the year of reading dangerously challenge (which I also signed up for). It's going to be very interesting reading your reviews and thoughts on these books.
