I've been looking around at other book lovers blogs...ok I look at them quite a bit. I've noticed that many of you are listening to books.
Now, being a homeschool mom who teaches with real literature as opposed to text books, I've tried a few children's books on CD and my children and I didn't care for them. One or two were ok, but it really depends on the voice who is reading the book and the children always say "we like your voice better mom." Oh, how sweet.
Lately, however my little eyes are just pooping out on me around midnight or so and I'm thinking maybe I should try a book on CD, lay in bed and let someone else read me a story.
So I just put Between Georgia by Joshilyn Jackson on CD on hold at my library. I know I wasn't impressed with her gods in Alabama book, but I hear this one is better, so I'm going to give it a try. I was trying to find Blue Shoes and Happiness by Alexander McCall Smith on CD, but no such luck. Don't even get me started on the library in his small FL county. How I miss the CT library system. The good news is the next No. 1 Ladies Det. book, The Good Husband of Zebra Drive is being ordered on CD...now if only it gets on the shelf some time this year. Don't get me started on that also...I've been waiting for The Higher Power of Lucky and Nineteen Minutes for months now. Still says on order. I want to call and ask them does that mean it's coming by Pony Express? So far I'm behaving. ;)

I read on someone's blog that Between Georgia is really good on CD. I have it on my TBR list. Let me know how you like it!

I've found that I like the audio books best when they are unabridged (you must be careful of that) and read by actors. They know where to emphasize.
I've tried the books on CD too and we never made it through one whole book. My kids give me the same answer. They'd rather listen to me.
