What a good book. So good I had to post about it. I must admit when I started it a few times I was tempted to put it down. It seemed too simple and maybe a bit boring. I'm so glad I stayed with it. Mary is the main character and she has just lost her young daughter and on the advice of her mother, she goes to Big Alice to learn to knit. She is then invited to join a group of women, the Knitting Circle, and then she begins her journey of healing. Not many books make me cry but last night as I finished this, I was bawling. It also has encouraged me to start knitting again.

This sounds like just the kind of book I need right now! Something that touches your heart and is uplifting. I just went through the disappointment of reading a 1014-page tome of a novel that started out promisingly but became more and more depressing as it went on, going places I did not want to go (to the worst mankind is capable of); I skimmed to the end, it never got any better!
