The End

I was very happy with the ending, but that doesn't change the fact that I am sad that it has come to an end. I've never felt so emotional about a series of books before. J.K. Rowling has truly given us all a great gift in Harry Potter.

It’s very simple. When this is passed on to you, copy the whole thing, skim the list and put a * star beside those that you like. (Check out especially the * starred ones.) Add the next number (1. 2. 3. 4. 5., etc.) and write your own blogging tip for other bloggers. Try to make your tip general. After that, tag 10 other people. Link love some friends! Just think - if 10 people start this and the 10 people pass it on to another 10 people, you have 100 links already!

What I've read recently

The Thirteenth Tale was a book that I couldn't put down. It was odd in places, but it held me captivated. I must admit that I was so excited because I had heard that the end had a twist "that I would never guess." Well I basically did guess it...not exactly, but enough where it wasn't that great of a climax for me. Still a good read, but probably not a book I'd read again.

The Women of Brewster Place...I read this for the Awards Challenge and it was great. Sad, but great. I had seen the movie years ago and remember liking it. The book was powerful and well written.

Summer Reading

Just finished this book, it was fairly good. When I first started it I thought I would put it down, but I stuck with it. It's decent chick lit, but not worth the 5 stars it has on Amazon.
Glad I got it from the library and didn't buy it! It's about 3 women who live on Long Island in the Hamptons and their lives, which are mildly interesting. One woman is well off and decides to have a summer reading club, one of the women is the ex college professor who leads the book club meetings and the third woman is house help for the well off woman. One thing that did turn me off is one of the women is bise*ual, but it doesn't go into detail. These women are dealing with their past and present and trying to decide what they want in life and if they are happy with what they have.

To Kill A Mockingbird

I read To Kill A Mockingbird in 2 days, for the Southern Reading Challenge and The Book Awards Reading Challenge. This book won the Pulitzer in 1961.

I had read this in high school, but I have a terrible memory, so I didn't remember all the details, just the main idea. It was great to read it as an adult and actually understand more then I'm sure I did as a teen.

I think my favorite part was when the ladies were saying how terrible it was what Hitler was doing to the Jews, and not realizing they do the same thing to the black people in their county.

I also am still a bit confused about Arthur "Boo" Radley. I feel like there should be more to his story. Was he just a teen who caused a little trouble and then his father kept him locked in the house the rest of his life? Why does he seem to be mentally challenged later when he comes out. Is that just because it has been so long since he's been in society? In case you don't know yet, I am just terrible about guessing, I always want the author to just come out and tell me things. Well, of course that's when the thinking comes in...maybe I don't want to do that?? LOL

That being said and some will probably disagree with me, I didn't think it was a wonderful book. It was very good, yes, but not great.
